Ichiraku, an authentic Japanese restaurant located in Dumaguete, has rapidly gained acclaim for its distinctive ramen offerings. Many patrons rave about the Kuro Tonkotsu and Tantanmen, remarking on their rich flavors and affordability. One customer, Althea Mitchelle, emphasizes the superb quality of their dishes, particularly the gyoza, describing it as the best she’s ever tried. This sentiment is echoed among many, reflecting a consistent experience of fresh ingredients and unique flavors.
However, reviews reveal a few inconsistencies. While Isaiah Keith appreciated the generous serving portions, he suggested meal sets for solo diners to enhance the experience. On the contrary, concerns about broth quantities have been noted by others, indicating room for improvement. Despite these minor drawbacks, Ichiraku's friendly service and welcoming atmosphere make the wait worthwhile, as customers often enjoy the friendly staff who cater well to diverse needs.
In a city not typically known for Japanese cuisine, Ichiraku stands out as a must-visit for ramen lovers, combining authenticity with affordability. Overall, this hidden gem on Mabini Corner is highly recommended for a satisfying culinary escape into Japan right in the heart of Dumaguete.

Reviews for Ichiraku
Review highlights
Based on 400 reviewsIchiraku is widely recognized for its authentic Japanese cuisine, particularly its diverse and flavorful ramen offerings. Customers appreciate the affordability and generous portion sizes, often highlighting signature dishes like the Kuro Tonkotsu, Tantanmen, and gyoza. The restaurant's convenient location and friendly service add to its appeal, despite occasional remarks about slow service and a dated ambiance. While most dishes receive high praise, some feedback points to inconsistency, especially with side items like gyoza. Overall, Ichiraku stands out as a must-visit spot for ramen enthusiasts seeking quality food that balances authenticity and value in Dumaguete.
The food at Ichiraku Ramen was great, and the serving portions were satisfying. Service was good as well. I’d suggest offering meal sets for solo diners, like a combo with two gyoza, ramen, and a drink.
Initially, I wasn’t a fan of Ichiraku due to my experience with the Shiro Tonkotsu Ramen—found it bland and didn’t enjoy it at all (wouldn’t recommend it). However, my perspective took a 180 when I tried the Kuro Tonkotsu and Tantanmen. These bowls were not only delicious but also surprisingly affordable. The fact that Ichiraku was conveniently within walking distance from where I stayed made it even better. It quickly became my go-to spot for the best budget Ramen in the city and easily secured a spot in my top 5 Ramen joints overall. While the affordability and taste make Ichiraku a standout, it’s fair to note that the only downside is their inconsistency in broth portions (sometimes they put too little and it needs more broth). Despite this, for a satisfying and budget-friendly Ramen fix, Ichiraku remains a top choice in the city.
BEST RAMEN I HAVE EVER TRIED food ~ we tried everything on the menu and it did not disappoint. winners for me are koru and tantanmen. Shoyu and Shiro are great too. Their gyoza was 10000000!!! everything's good i can't even imagine can't believe food that tastes as great as this doesn't break the bank. affordable but the quality is superb! i am craving for it while im typing this, once you try you will be hooked. broth - 100/10 noodles - 100/10 service - friendly and patient staff, they give pwd disc. assisted us well, served all our orders correctly. took about 10-15 mins wait - not so bad (quick service) atmosphere - decent seats, okay place, and has ac. place is always jam packed so expect to wait a little bit before you are seated. consistent flavors, fresh ingredients, affordable, easily accessible, and affordable. must try when visiting dumaguete, you will not regret it!
I didn't expect to find an authentic Japanese restaurant here in Dumaguete. It's true! The food is delicious and it feels like you're really in Japan. The place looks a bit old and the service is slow, but the ramen and onigiri are very tasty. I returned here after 2 days: Gyoza was not good. See pics.
The best Ramen house by far in the City. Located in Mabini Corner, Luke Wright Street which is very accessible. The ambiance is great and the staffs are very attentive and friendly. They served authentic Japanese food with an affordable price. All of their ramens are unique and flavorful. Highly recommended and a must try to all ramen lovers visiting Dumaguete. An experience like no other.
Ichiraku is a great Japanese ramen spot in Dumaguete with two branches. We visited this branch and had a satisfying experience. We ordered the Tantanmen and Shiro Tonkotsu ramen. The Tantanmen had a bold flavor with a thick, hearty broth, while the Shiro Tonkotsu ramen, though decent, could use a bit more richness and depth in the broth. The noodles were slightly soft and clumpy but still enjoyable. We also tried the gyoza, which tasted good but lacked the crispiness you’d expect from fried gyoza—it was quite soft. The ambiance was cozy, with friendly staff and a fun touch where you can wear outfits and take photos in the restaurant. Service was fast, and they even have ice cream, which we’ll try next time. Overall, Ichiraku offers a nice dining experience and is worth a visit for ramen lovers in Dumaguete!
